Is ecuEdit any good for BMW's

Postby 330iM52 » Thu Aug 14, 2008 11:27 am

Hi everyone,

I am just starting to fish for some decent info. Is the ecuEdit any good to read/write edit maps of BMW ECU's? I own E36 328 and wanted to play a bit myselfe.

I know its less expensive and more safe to get a proffessional to do this..
I am electronic engineer and I deal wit microcontrollers and programmers on daily basis + I got fair bit knowlege of the automotive fuel injection systems but never actually got round to get involved in my car on that level.

Any input greatly appreciated.

ecuEdit is universal hex editor with 1d,2d,3d map visualisation and universal log viewer. Other ecuEdit features such are loggers and read/flash ECU is not compatible with BMW.

thanks for that. If I'd decide to go for ecuEdit as for my data editor what would be recommended soft do get some data from ECU as for logging?

Is there one software for BM that could log data and read/update map through odb or would I need two pieces of software/hardware?

Cheers

Hi ,

I have been toying with BMW ecus , and i am wondering what you want to do with your ECU ? i used Winols for editing , and most of european cars has checksums . you must watch this matter , or you won't start your car .
i used KWP2000+ to read and write to ECU .

Just to share my experience with you , enjoy the tuning .
regards, Ac .
