MazdaEdit Map Definitions for Mazda3

Postby DNick454 » Thu Mar 06, 2014 5:24 am

I'm looking into the MazdaEdit software but I'm a little skeptical of how well things are documented in the software for my particular platform. After looking at some of the videos/tutorials and screenshots, it appears some of the maps have very descriptive notes on what they do, how they're calculated, and what other maps correlate to them as well. My other concern is the actual output values that are seen in the maps. Has the software been refined to a point yet where the values displayed are actual, meaningful numbers? Or are they nonsense numbers that have no real correlation to whats actually going on?

Who here is using MazdaEdit on a regular Mazda3 either Gen1 or 2? Can you comment on how well the maps are defined and described? I'm really dreading paying $500 to find out all the maps are listed as such: Fuel #1, Fuel #2, Fuel #3, and etc... It's not very descriptive of what it does and why there are so many of the same map.

Also, if anyone can provide some screenshots of this software for the MAZDA3 specifically and how everything is labeled, that'd be terrific. I don't want to pay for software that I have to continue developing on my own to make it work properly. I know how to tune, not program!

Thanks, I'm looking forward to a legitimate tuning solution and BOOST!

It's a Gen2 Mazda3 2.0L. I'm curious to see how the maps are labeled, which ones are usable, and how the units are displayed. Thank you for the fast response.

So are there descriptions or notes on the differences between them all? Under what conditions do each activate? For example, Open Loop Load Threshold has A, B, C, D, E and F. Does MazdaEdit tell the differences between them? I don't know what A, B, C, D, E, and F means...

No, conditions are not described for this maps. Values in the maps are the same, so they are usually changed to the same values without understanding for a what purpose each map.

So you're saying the video tutorial #1 of the map list is from EcuEdit only and MazdaEdit is sort of unfinished and making changes to specific maps is pretty much a guessing game right?

Here's a screenshot of the tutorial video of EcuEdit for reference. So MazdaEdit isn't finished and won't have all the descriptions and detailed map names like EcuEdit?

So when I select a map in MazdaEdit, does it give a description like the screenshot I linked? Some of the map names seem a slightly ambiguous. I want to make sure I can tweak all aspects (cold start enrichment, cruise vs non-cruise AFR targets) without just making changes to ALL maps the same.

Again, thanks for the fast responses!

the map names are not "ambiguous" they are very well defined. However what each does is going to be up to you to find.

The software works quite well, but its up to you to find out how to make it do what you want
