Cannot Connect to ECU

Postby ev8siv3 » Tue Oct 31, 2006 1:00 am

I picked up a 2006 USDM WRX and it's unable to connect to the ECU. I've tried rebooting the laptop a few times and nothing. Works inside of EcuExplorer but not EcuEdit.

I checked the log_defs XML file and see 2 seperate defs for AL350 and AL370 but I'm unsure if my car is either. My ROM is A8DH201X.

How do I find the "ECU ID" to add it to the list if its not there?

XML is not used then ecuEdit try connect to ECU.
XML is used then program successful connect to ECU for retrieve ECU info and parameters info. If program don't find ECU Id in XML then it show dialog (new ECU connected) and you must enter some description info to continue logging.

BTW, Please check you port settings then you try to connect ECU

Port settings were all fine. I changed the port to something that didn't exist and then re-opened the program and changed it back to the OpenPort. Works fine now. Just odd that it wouldn't before.

I also have problem connecting to the ECU. My car is a MY04 EDM Forester and it works well with the ECU explorer.

When I open with ECU edit, the Subaru openport driver 1.3 is recognised but when I click the items to be logged, it all appears to be blank. This is strange since it was working with the previous release of the 2.4.

Any advice?

Select the COM port its on instead of the cable name and it should be fine.

Thanks for the tip. Tried again today, for certain reasons, it worked this morning but when I tried again in the afternoon, it did not work again.

Will try a few more time to monitor what's going on here.

Also, while it worked, I could not log the advance multiplier (tried all the address) as well as the load. Also can't seem to find the wastegate duty cycle. How can I get them to work? Mine's a MY04 EDM forester. Thanks.

05 usa evo mr

we tried to use the trial version (which by the way and 40 minute timer before you can try it sucks) and after we waited, tried to connect to the ecu and it wont.

a. is there anything to shorten the 40 minute wait
b. what could we be doing wrong ???

I'm running a '06 Subaru WRX and I can't seem to get EcuEdit to connect. I tried connecting and disconnecting the green connector but that doesn't seem to help. The car key is on, but not w/the engine running, just the "ON" position. EcuEdit just tells me that it can't connect to the ECU. I'm very interesting in buying this software so I can log w/the innovative LC-1 but I haven't got it to work yet. I go to Subaru logger and select OpenPort 1.3 as my port and then press connect. I'm really lost and I can't find directions but maybe I should search harder. Help! Oh, and anyone know a good place to buy an LC-1?

also having problems connecting to my ecu, JDM 03 STi AH581/A4TE002B.

the only way to connect is to close the logger,
open ecuexplorer connect to ecu, close ecuexplorer, reopen the ecuedit logger, and then connection appears to be fine.
